First is whether or not the uterus is intact---women who don't have a uterus may take advantage of estrogen-only HRT, as the dydrogesterone---a progestin---in Femoston Conti Low provides benefit only in protecting the uterus from side effects of estrogen, such as endometrial cancer.

Women who do have a uterus should then evaluate the need for HRT. Though it sees relatively common use, HRT does carry potentially serious risks and women should not buy Femoston Conti Low unless menopausal symptoms are severe enough to compensate for those risks. That is, of course, a personal decision. Otherwise healthy women are at relatively low risk, while those with other major medical conditions are significantly higher.

Treatment may continue for 6 months to several years, provided no side effects develop.

Who Should Not Buy Femoston Conti Low

As mentioned above, Femoston Conti low (like all estrogen-based HRT) is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, other estrogen-dependent tumors, blood clots, heart attack, and stroke. This risk is slight, though it does increase with duration of use and women who are already predisposed to such complications are at significantly higher risk than others. Women with a history of the following should not buy Femoston Conti Low:

• Breast cancer
• Estrogen-dependent tumors
• Porphyria
• Untreated endometrial hyperplasia
• Blood clots
• Liver disease
• Cardiovascular issues

Other, more common side effects are much milder and generally not cause for concern. They're usually transient, as well, meaning they'll stop occurring after the first few weeks of treatment. Common side effects are:

• Headache (not migraine)
• Spotting
• Vaginal discharge
• Tender breasts
• Gastrointestinal symptoms

Rarely more serious side effects develop, which call for discontinuation of Femoston Conti Low:

• Jaundice or other symptoms of liver impairment
• New migraine headaches
• Significant increase in blood pressure
